We specialize in custom homes, commercial construction, renovations, additions, and agricultural buildings, helping homeowners and businesses bring ambitious ideas to life through thoughtful planning, exceptional craftsmanship, and honest communication.
What We Believe
BUILDING DIFFERENTLY STARTS WITH THINKING DIFFERENTLY.
For more than three decades, Ruetz Contracting has been helping homeowners, businesses, and property owners throughout Grey & Bruce counties bring ambitious ideas to life. As a family-run construction company, we've built our reputation one project at a time through honest communication, quality craftsmanship, and a willingness to take on projects that others might shy away from.
We believe construction is about far more than buildings. It's about creating spaces where families gather, businesses grow, and communities thrive. Every project we undertake is approached with the same commitment to quality, regardless of size or complexity.
The best results come from listening first, collaborating often, and finding solutions tailored to the unique needs of each client, property, and vision. From early planning and conceptual mockups to the final walkthrough, our process is built around transparency, communication, and craftsmanship. We take the time to understand not just what you're building—but why you're building it.
We help clients see possibilities before construction even begins. Through concept layouts and visual mockups, we bridge the gap between imagination and reality, giving clients greater confidence throughout the design and decision-making process.
Everything we do is driven by one simple goal: helping make our communities a more beautiful, functional, and inspiring place to live and work.
BUILT ON FAMILY VALUES
Our Journey
Ruetz Contracting was founded in 1989 by Dave Ruetz, beginning as a small framing company serving Grey & Bruce counties. Our commitment to quality workmanship, honest relationships, and hard work allowed the company to continue to grow and become one of the areas most trusted names in luxury home and commercial construction.
Over the years, the company naturally expanded from framing into full-service general contracting, taking on increasingly complex residential, commercial, and agricultural projects. As the reputation of Ruetz Contracting grew, so did the team, eventually moving into its current Mildmay location in the late 2000s to better support continued growth.
In 2011, Dave's son Erik Ruetz joined the company, beginning on construction sites after school before gradually taking on estimating, project management, office operations, and general contracting responsibilities. Since 2021, Erik has assumed leadership of the business while continuing the values and reputation established by his father.
Today, Ruetz Contracting remains proudly family-owned and operated, combining decades of construction experience with modern technology, visualization tools, and innovative thinking. Our in-house framing and finishing crews remain one of our greatest strengths, allowing us to maintain exceptional quality control while continuing to deliver the craftsmanship our clients have come to expect.
We've worked throughout Grey-Bruce long enough to understand its landscape and the people who choose to build here. That local knowledge isn't something that can be manufactured—it comes from decades of showing up, earning trust, and doing the work right.
Craftmanship
Quality isn't something that happens at the end of a project—it influences every decision along the way. From framing and finish carpentry to custom trim work and complex architectural details, we take pride in delivering workmanship that reflects the care we put into every build.
Transparency
Construction is one of the largest investments many people will ever make. We believe clients deserve clear communication, honest advice, realistic expectations, and regular updates throughout the process. Building trust is every bit as important as building structures.
Precision
Great construction begins long before materials arrive on site. Through thoughtful planning, detailed estimating, and careful execution, we focus on getting the details right from day one. Precision isn't simply about measurements—it's about delivering projects that perform beautifully for decades.
Ingenuity
Some of our favourite projects are the ones that don't fit inside a standard blueprint. Challenging sites, unique architectural features, custom structural solutions, and one-of-a-kind client ideas inspire us to think creatively and develop solutions that make extraordinary projects possible.
The People Behind the Projects
Behind every successful project is a team committed to doing things the right way. Ruetz Contracting is a family business formed of people who genuinely enjoy what we do. We believe that strong relationships, mutual respect, and open communication create better projects and better experiences for everyone involved.

Built on Trust
The relationships we build are every bit as important as the buildings themselves. Our reputation has been built through referrals, through solving problems that didn't have off-the-shelf answers, and through delivering on projects that demanded more. We're grateful to have earned the trust of homeowners, businesses, and property owners throughout Grey-Bruce county, and we're proud that much of our work continues to come through referrals and repeat clients.
"We just finished a renovation with Erik and his team. I have nothing but positive things to say! Great team, excellent work and very meticulous. Thank you for doing an amazing job on our kitchen and bathroom. Chris and I love it!"
